Panthers Rugby League is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic finance team supporting the operations of one of Australia’s most successful sporting organisations. About the Role Reporting to the Financial Controller, in this hands-on role you will support the wider team across daily finance operations, month-end processes and compliance. You’ll partner with departments across Football, Pathways, and Commercial to ensure accurate, timely financial information that enables sound business decisions. The role also supports Panthers Group charitable organisations, partner associations. As the Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for: - Support day-to-day Accounts Receivable operations.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and assist with month-end journals and reporting.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- Assist with Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) data collection and analysis.
- Assist with audit preparation, documentation, and process improvements.
- Support event and match-day financial reconciliations including ticketing, hospitality, and merchandise.
- Champion data accuracy across accounting systems (Business Central and MYOB) and Excel.
The successful candidate for this role will possess the following: Essential: - Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance.
- Currently studying towards a CPA or CA qualification.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups).
- Experience with a modern accounting system (e.g., Microsoft/NetSuite/TechOne).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
- Eligible to work in Australia.
Desirable: - Experience in professional sport, community sport, or not-for-profit environments.
- Exposure to event finance, ticketing, POS or stock control systems.
